New Dunedin Hospital Outpatient
A Façade for Healthcare Excellence
As a key component of New Zealand’s largest health infrastructure project, the New Dunedin Hospital Outpatient Building sets new standards for healthcare design. Its façade plays a central role in creating a welcoming, resilient, and high-performing environment that supports both patients and clinical staff.
Our façade engineering team worked alongside the project partners to translate the architectural vision into a robust, buildable solution. The façade combines high-performance glazing, integrated sun-shading, and carefully detailed cladding systems to balance transparency, daylight, and thermal comfort. This ensures that waiting and consultation spaces benefit from natural light while minimising glare, solar gain, and energy demand.
Healthcare projects require a heightened focus on resilience and reliability. We engineered the façade to meet stringent seismic and wind performance requirements, while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance over the building’s long service life. Every detail – from fixing systems to interface design – was coordinated to support a fast, efficient build and uncompromising performance.
The Outpatient Building’s façade is more than just an envelope – it is part of the therapeutic experience, enhancing the quality of care while reflecting the modern identity of the new hospital. It is a testament to how façade engineering expertise can elevate health infrastructure into civic architecture that serves both function and community.
